This position is responsible for the planning, scheduling, budgeting, utilization and reliability of a construction and mining equipment fleet. The position will deal with day to day as well as long term issues related to an equipment fleet. The position's focus will be to improve equipment reliability as well as implement, monitor, audit, and manage preventative maintenance programs. brDistrict Overview brFor this internship, students will work with Kiewit Equipment Services (KES) to ensure the profitability of Kiewit projects through improved equipment utilization and mechanical reliability by providing world-class equipment and services. brLocation brWe have multiple assignments in Toronto, ON, Ottawa, ON and Laval, QC. You will need a means of transport from the apartment to the shop location, no public transit is available brResponsibilities br * Material handling and procurement br * Create and maintain tool/filter lists and documentation br * Inspections of equipment and parts br * Logistics management and communication br * Long/short range equipment planning, scheduling, and budgeting br * Planning and paperwork processing to prepare for critical lifts br * Use reliability and failure analysis data to increase equipment availability and reliability br * Support of craft maintenance technicians - ordering parts, manage inventory, schedule crews, and manage quality and safety br * Specialty projects as needed. brQualifications br * Ability to travel as needed br * Ability to work full-time during the Summer (May-August 2025) br * Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET), Diesel Technology, or Automotive Technology br * Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in a wide-ranging climates and environments br * Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative br * Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time br * Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt br * Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives br * Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail brFunctional knowledge of English (written and verbal) is considered as an asset since mobility across provinces in Canada is required.
